As I look forward into 2014, I’ve chosen two areas in which I’d most like to edit more material:
- Fiction. Author Cara Trautman’s debut novel Happy(ish), which I edited last year, has quite a few reviews on Goodreads and is currently rated 3.79 stars. I also edited author Jason Sarna’s novel Night Burger, which will be published in March, and I have a couple more fiction editing projects coming up. More novels would be wonderful. If you’ve recently finished a novel (say, for NaNoWriMo) and want to have it polished before submitting the manuscript to agents or publishing it yourself, send me an e-mail!
- Mind/body/spirit nonfiction. I read widely in this genre in the early 2000s, and since then, I’ve wanted to edit books on spirituality, alternative religion, and the connection between mind, body, and spirit. In fact, that’s one of the reasons I’m freelancing — to edit spirit-centered material right alongside textbooks and assessments. (This helps explain why I have a stack of experience in educational publishing but am sending résumés to publishers like Llewellyn and Atria Books.)
So I’m putting this out into the universe. If you’re looking for an editor for your novel or your nonfiction book in the mind/body/spirit category, I might be your editor!
